We are delighted to be able to offer a great range of fantastic tasting meat direct form local and regional producers. We believe that if you choose to eat meat then you should try to buy meat that has been reared using the highest welfare standards possible. We also recognise the importance of eating meat that is reared locally to where we live and we believe in buying local and supporting local producers. With all this in mind we have worked really hard to source top quality, fantastic tasting meat that has been reared in and around the Eastern counties. We have also recognised that shopping budgets are limited and that not everyone can afford to eat Organic meat all the time. So with this in mind we have decided to offer two ranges of meat.

Where does our meat come from?
All our meat is supplied by Ashlyns Growers and Producers (AGAP), a working co-operative of independent local and regional farms. AGAP was setup by and is run from Ashlyns Organic farm, which is also where we are based. All the meat we deliver is reared by one of the AGAP co-operative members, who are all based in and around the Eastern Counties. There is full traceability on all our meat to guarantee its provenance and its quality. The meat is butchered to order next door to us on Ashlyns farm by one of AGAP’s skilled butchers. On the following pages we have featured a couple of the farms who produce the meat for us.

Packaging
All our meat is vacuum packed to seal in the freshness and allow for safe clean handling during transportation and is delivered in thermally insulated polystyrene boxes designed specifically for meat. Each box comes with an ice pack to ensure the meat reaches you at the ideal temperature. These boxes are sealed and will keep the meat cold for up to 24hrs after packing. We will collect the empty meat boxes and ice packs to re-use when we drop off your next veg box. |
